Charlotte and David's Wedding Photography - The Woodlands, TX

Sometimes its hard to put something into words. I would say that this is the case with Charlotte and David's wedding. Seeing these two great families come together was great! Charlotte and David had a great ceremony at Grace Presbyterian in The Woodlands.

The reception was at the amazing The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center. The staff was awesome, the food was great. If your considering getting married this is one place you should seriously consider. To top off the entire evening Molly and the Ringwald's totally rocked it out!

I think the photos are pretty awesome too, but I'm a little biased. Love to here ya chime in!

I've been waiting for this one for a while Julian is a good friend of mine, and I just got to know Sarah I look forward to calling her a friend as well. You may already know them both.

Julian is a filmmaker, and is responsible for (in addition other awesome work) "25 Things I Hate About Facebook". So, go check out his other work its awesome!

Alexa and Brian found me because of Amy and Kelly. They are so easy going, and a true pleasure to work with. They took a little adventure, and we rode the ferry across to Bolivar Peninsula shooting all the way. It was something I've always wanted to do.

Charlotte and David's Engagement Photography - Hermann Park - Houston, TX

Its always a pleasure and honor to photograph the weddings of those who serves our country, and Amy and Kelly's wedding was no different. The weather down on Galveston Island was awesome! The staff at the Hotel Galvez was awesome! The whole wedding day was just great, and the love between Amy and Kelly was obvious. You really could feel the excitement in the air!

Also want to send out a special shout out to these fine folks that helped made the day special...

Kelly with Eventology Weddings - She really did a great job as the event coordinator. As she always does. I believe she is truly a miracle worker!

Ben with BDimage was rocking out the video!

Then there was Pete with Pete's Mobile DJ Service. As the DJ he really got the party going!

Kori and Elliot - South Shore Harbour and Resort - League City, TX

Its been just over a week, but it seems like yesterday I photographed Kori and Elliot's wedding at South Shore Harbour and Resort. Photographing weddings is n't something all photographers can do or want because of the pressure involved, but when you have a couple like these two it really is the best job in the world!

Global Warming to Kill Millions

In a surprise turn of events global warming will kill millions of people in Houston on Friday, December 4, 2009. The forecast calls for a 40% chance of snow. Millions will die.

Houston, has not stocked up on enough eggs, milk, and cloths pins to weather such a storm caused by global warming. Houstonites who actually figure out how to light the pilot light on their furnaces will die due to the lack of weird useless supplies that typically disappear in such storms in the north east.

Because of global warming most people in the great Houston area don't own coats, and will sufer death by exposure to the elements. Global warming is a problem since this is one of the coldest years on record in the last 100 years. Houston Fire Department public information officer James Knitwit says, "We will be putting firefighters on alert to handle the extra casualties due to folks getting their tongues stuck to flag poles after being lulled in the the Christmas sprit by the famous movie The Christmas Story."

Knitwit goes on to acknowledge, "We do anticipate millions of car accidents due to the fact no one has ever seen snow, and most in Houston don't know how to drive in it. Our firefighters will not be leaving the firehouse for calls due to the lack of appropriate snow driving courses for our crews. People need to get a hold of this global warming issue before Houston is wiped off the map due to the snow."

Other supplies that Houston doesn't have that will cause millions to die due to global warming is the lack of snow plows, socks, bubble gum, shovels, directions for the shovels, ice scrapers, and dental floss. A federal disaster area is expected to be declared by Governor Rick Perry later this week. Clearing the way for folks to be rounded up in FEMA camps by the UN.

Car Fire - League City, Tx

It is not often that I get to play photojournalist in the traditional sense. No matter how many times I see something like this I am amazed at how our modern conveniences can turn tragically against us.

This car fire started around lunch time in the parking lot of the Whataburger in League City just off FM 646 and Interstate 45. According to a witness I spoke with, a man, identified as the driver of the Dodge Durango, was eating his meal in his SUV when smoke starting pouring out of the hood. Shortly, after that 911 was called. No one was injured in the incedent according to League City police.

I was fortune enough to have my gear with me, and was going to my bank when I saw the car fire. There was an explosion of some type as I pulled into the drive way. I also got a pretty interesting shot of the battery exploding as well.

The Knot, New Year Resolutions, and Bangin' New Galleries!

Today, I was working on my website, as I have been doing a little bit every day. Just as I launch one of 12 new galleries on my website I get a wonderful email from Heather to tell me some more wonderful news. That her and her way cool husband Michael is feathered on The Knot's Website.

I knew it was coming, but I had no idea it would launch today at the same time as my gallery of their wedding. To see the feature on The Knot's website click here. They did not pick my favorites, but as with most publications they have their own reasons to pick certain images. I next order of business is New Year resolutions, this year I have vowed to blog everyday. The Winner Is... Katy and Bill's Engagement Session - Galveston, Tx

I am not sure where to start. I had so many folks vote, and say such wonderful things. I am feeling kinda mushie (is that a word?).

Katy and Bill were refered to me by another wonderful couple you will be reading about soon. Katy chose me as their based on one photo in the engagement gallery of my website. She just had to have one just like it.

Well, I was a bit nervous, because I never do anything twice. I do not even know how, even if I wanted too. I joke around all the time saying I make it up as I go. That is completely true. I don't even like going to the same spots.

So the first time attempt we went to Discovery Green Park to take photographs. We struck out on that elusive sunset shot she was looking for. The next time we hit the beach. Now, mind you this was shortly after Ike had its way with us down here. Boy am I glad we did. It was amazing!

There were boats were boats should have not been, and the sunset was just stunning! I hope you all enjoy! Katy and Bill are so much fun, and willing to do just about anything I ask. However, their personalities really shined, so I did not have to make to many requests. Stay tuned for their wedding photos!

Death in the Family

It has been a rough couple of months, and it continues to be so. Today, I got word from my father that my Grandfather passed away. Before my career bounced me around the country we would go to my grandparent house every Thanksgiving. Which this makes it all the more difficult.

He always had his chair he sat in to watch the Cowboys play after dinner. He was a wonderful High School principal, father, and a War War II hero. I was really looking forward to this year's Thanksgiving. I wanted to hear about his experiences in the War.

The last time I got to visit, a couple of years ago, it was wonderful to speak with him as an adult. I loved my conversions with him that day. He will be sorely missed.

I appreciate all your patience through the storm, and I assure you all the work is coming along. I am behind on a few things, but very close to finishing some critical items folks are looking for. I will keep everyone informed.

Hurricane Ike Update & The Election

Well folks I can not believe we are so far out from Hurricane Ike and it is still on the agenda. I know there are people that have it a whole lot worse than myself, but it is frustrating situation. First I want to send an over due very warm thanks to Mike over at Morgan-Lee Supply in Dalton, GA. He so graciously sent us a generator. It allowed to get things back up and running much quicker.

Mike and his wife Tammy are wonderful people. I met them while teaching a class some time back. They also are photographers and operate Houston Studios Photography. It is great to have such generous people as friends.

THE ELECTION

This Is a very heated and highly debated election this year. Rightfully so. There is so much at stake. Terrorism, taxes, the economy, energy, and illegal immigration are just a few. It is important to know why you are voting for someone. It is even more important to do so without regard to party politics.

This one video is the turning point for me. I can not believe in today's economy we have someone speaking like this. Taking more money out of the economy in tough times has been a proven failure. It is basic economics they teach high school kids. It is so irresponsible, I can not imagine having someone without a clue to be leader of the world's greatest country. It is bad leadership for Americans and bad for the world.

I hate to be political here, but I believe there is too much at stake. I will make one more post on the topic I found interesting in a few days. Then after that I will leave it alone, but I feel this information has been largely ignored by the press. You really can't argue with words out of the horses mouth.

Who will this effect? The richest? No... If you are investing in the stock market your going to feel the hurt. If you and your significant other both pull down $42K a year (the median income for the country) you will be pulling down $84k a year, and be considered rich in America.

My dad pull down less than $50K a year but is invested in stocks. He will see a big raise on his taxes as well.

I am just sayin'.

Hurricane Ike - Disaster 2008

Everytime I take a little time off something really aweful happens. I will spare you the grizzle details. Trust me, I am not making it up.

Here is the update. I am still without power, or internet. I try to make it to Panera or the library everyday to pickup my new emails. I also use that time to charge my batteries on the laptop, so I can get some work done.

Ike Update XXIV

LOL! It feel that way. I thought I would include a photo of our house. We came very close to seeing major property loss. This tree was as tall as me on it's side. If it fell 10 feet to the left we would have been in trouble. There was another on you can't see that came even closer.

For business, any good professional knows when to ask for help. Here is the help I am asking for. If you have emailed me in the last few days and waiting a response please forward the message to me again. If you called please send and email to photographer@jasonconnel.com.

At this time I a am completely overwhelmed and I am trying to stick to my deadline for everything. I need to take a triage approach. My goal is to take care of the most critical concerns first. Please, be patient as I try to work through everything for folks.

Call Sharon about her albums to start designs
Shane and Michelle has a malfunctioning DVD
Looking to call Sue about Pictage concerns
Touch bases with all my clients with up coming wedding and make sure everyone is okay.
Get with Quinn for her final planning session for her wedding.
Get DVD's and book design done for Vanessa and Heath
Change of address so all equipment that is out for repair gets to me.
Get to Houston to pick up equipment that has already shipped, and books that have arrived during this time.
Find a good place to work for the duration
Shane and Michelle's Book design
Pick up truck after being in the shop.
Return rental equipment.
Loads of blogging... I have some really wonderful weddings and engagement sessions to share.
Work on piecing together my previous tasks prior to Ike.
Make sure Marcela is okay
Take care of Melanie's contract.
Get with Mike Houston (who has made a very generous offer)

Hurricane Ike Assessment

Monday 3am I get a phone call from my father, "You up?!". I reply "Yes."

In reality I thought it was 4:00am or 4:30am and I had slept through my alarm. No, not so after about ten minutes of stumbling around for my clothes. I realized my dad was nutz! But, I actually knew that already.

We drove to Houston arriving to my office just after sunrise, so here is the good and the bad. I am not a bad news first sort of person. So, here is the good. Nothing, was destroyed. Nadda, nuthin', zeltch personal property was destroyed. Thank you for all the prayers.

However, every single power pole was destroyed. Every pole will have to be dug up and re-planted. I am without power for the long hall. There is a 50 foot pine tree that fell due to the storm, in my neighbors back yard, that the 75 foot pine tree in my yard is holding up. One good gust of wind and I will have a tree parked in my office.

Trees fell everywhere in my neighborhood. Barely missing my truck, that will never die, by just an inch or two. The other bad news. The city is having complete failure of the sewage system. A good friend of mine had his house flooded by raw sewage. Apparently, I am not out of the woods yet.

Engagement Sessions and Bridal Sessions for this weekend are canceled. I am getting more operations up everyday, and getting some help from fellow photographers which I will be posted about here soon.

Hurricane Ike Update

I can not even begin to express what the last two weeks have been like. it has been such roller-coaster. My prayers are with all the victims of Ike. I know a lot of folks have been praying for me and my family, and I thank you.

I apologize to everyone who has sent me email. I have received them. If there is something you feel I may have missed feel free to sent me another note. I will be with you as soon as I can.

Most of you know I live and work out of Dickinson. Due to the many prayers and notes of concern I have received I feel like I am truly blessed with some of the best friends and family a person can ask for. I promise I will be getting back with you all as soon as I can.

I know most of you would like to know if your images are safe. The answer is yes. Everything was backed up. However, the good news is that it looks like my house was spared flooding. However, I have many very large trees in and around my house. It is still unknown at this time what kind of damage I have.

I have organized, and I will be making a very early morning assessment of needs. I am not going in to stay. This is a chance for me to get everything out to run the business as a daily basis from San Antonio. I do not believe it is safe or smart to stay at my office at this time. I am only going to be there long enough to receive what I need to continue daily operations, and to secure the house. For those who are rightfully concerned about me I have made appropriate arrangements, and my journalism background will be very helpful in this situation (meaning I have plenty of food and water for a week and I won't do anything stupid.)

Hello everyone,

This is a sad day for everyone. I got news today that my office will get 24 feet of storm surge. I am asking for prayers, and I am giving prayers for everyone in the path of this storm. If you have sent an email recently the chances are I have received it. I have been making preparations while I have been on the road for the storm. I apologize for the delay.

The good news is that all weddings are up, and all data is backed up. I have most of my equipment with me. So, all of you October and November brides we are still ready for your wedding. All comments are welcome.

A Tragic Story - Please, Please, Read This

I have something to share with everyone. This is something that has hit home, because this has happened to a couple of mine. Denise and Craig are such wonderful people I can not think of a more horrible thing to happen to them.

Before I met Denise at a coffee shop on the northside of Houston little did I know about her tragic loss leading up to our meeting. I short time earlier she had lost her parents in a awful car accident in which the driver was sending a text message. A text message that changed entire family forever.

I urge you. No! You have a moral obligation to never ever do this while driving. This especially true this holiday weekend. Read her and Craig's entire story on their newly formed blog Cell Phone Justice.

A Whole Lot of Somethin' - Misty & Aarron - Chateau Elan

Lets air the business of the day. As for the previous emergency announcement we are okay. Yesterday, was sort of the deadline for me to head to my Aunt's and help her out with the kidos. However, the doctors came back with some good news. The infection in her husband's leg from the injury had not made it to the bones. Thank for the prayers!

Onto other business. In a previous post I talked about a little bit about Lightroom. Well, folks you are about to start seeing the results of what this amazing piece of software is doing for me. For now lets get caught up on some of the AMAZING weddings I have been photographing.

Let me introduce you guys to Misty and Aarron. They were married a while back at Chateau Elan just outside of Atlanta, GA. If you are looking for a place to have a wedding. This would be on my short list for sure. I must say I LOVE military weddings!

An Emergency Announcement

My Aunt's husband was in a dirt bike accident last week. We have been watching and monitoring the situation. It looks like the first hospital did a less than steller job patching him up. He was taken by ambulance this week to another hospital that discovered his previous surgery had left him in really bad shape.

They have three kids that have been floating around church members houses in Tennessee. If it looks like the infection is bad he will have to be in the hospital for six weeks, and we will have their kids here for that time. That way he can get back on his feet again. Bringing the total little ones in our house up to 6.

Any prayers would be appreciated for the kids, for us, and for his speedy recovery. I will keep everyone updated right here.

Lightroom 2.0 Saves My Life

I can not tell you what this newest piece of software has done for my life. Lightroom 2.0 has completely changed my life and my business, and just about has done it overnight. A while back my very good friend Matt Dunmore convinced me to give it a try. I was also motivated by the fact I was going to see David Jay on his Free to Succeed Tour that was going to focus on the new product from Adobe. I had to give it a try so I could take away as much information as I could. Boy I am glad I did!

I went and saw his talk with Jasmine Star with some good friends of mine here in Houston (I would give you guys some blog love, but there are too many of you... This would sound like a Presidential speech... LOL!) There were so many wonderful things that they spoke about that I plan on trying, but I immediately took what they said in Lightroom and ran with it.

That alone has changed my life! I am not kidding either. Stay tuned folks good things are coming!

I Love Jim Cantore - Tropical Storm Edouard - Texas City, TX

This weekend we learned of Tropical Storm Edouard on our door step. It has been a little hectic getting ready. We had needed to get our hurricane emergency kit in order, so after most of the day working on that the girls were a bit wound up. They were a little nervous to hear their parents say if Tropical Storm Edouard becomes a Category 1 Hurricane we would ride it out.

So, we decided to have a little fun. We love hurricane season and watching Jim Cantore from the Weather Channel work on his leaning in various storms in the past. Since he is a favorite person to watch and tease on TV this time of year we decided to make a few signs. Then we were off to the Texas City Dike for a evening of letting loose.

We had a lot of fun and it was great to see our daughters cutting it up a little with all the serious talk lately.

Out of Town and Big News!

Howdy all! I am trying to get back with everyone that has either called or emailed this week. I have been out of town most of the week, and I am getting ready for a wedding this weekend. I will be in touch in the next few days. Hang out around your phone on Sunday! :D

The big news that my sister just gave birth to her 2nd son Garrett. He was born just over 8 pounds! However, my sister is not the only one celebrating. I was emailed this week by Cindy that her first son was born earlier in the month! You may remember Cindy and Paul from one of my weddings late last year! Congrats guys! You will make awesome parents!

They aren't the only ones either! LOL! Dena and Daniel told me they are pregnant! It is a girl!!! Lots of good news!

A Look Back - Heather and Michael - Sheraton Read House

In the spirit of getting caught up I am going back and locating everyone I have not posted about. I am so excited to post about Michael and Heather! I had so much fun at their wedding at the Sheraton Read House back in February in Chattanooga! It is always refreshing to have clients that turn over every aspect of how I photograph their day to me. It ads a bit of extra presure, but I think the results are wonderful!

Also, I have my very good friend Matt Dunmore with me. It is amazing to see how much Matt has come in the few short years that I have had the pleasure of calling him a friend. I wish I could take credit for it somehow, but the fact is he was born with the gift!

Sound Force Entertainment was responsible for all the sound through out the day. As usual Phillip and his crew rocked the house! He also did an amazing job in the lighting set up. I would have to say if it was not for his fabulous work the photos would have just not been as interesting.

Dan the Cake Man created this amazing cake! I can not remember the last time I spent so much time looking at the cake. It was truly a work of art. I am guessing as fast as it went it tasted as good as it looked!

None of this would have been possible if it wasn't for the brilliant vision of Heather and her family. I would like to tank you guys for making it possible to do the wonderful job I was able to do. Without everything you all had done these photos would not exsist!

Kevin and Shila Congrats!

First I must make a little mention about blogging. Sometimes it is seen as a less important aspect of my business, so when something comes up it is easy for me to skip a blog post to do other work I might be faced with. That is the wrong approach. Opposite is true. Making timely blog posts is actually one of the more important things I can do.

That said I would like send out a congrats to Kevin ans Shila! They are expecting! I love it when clients include in the big news in their lives. I would say Kevin and Shila are more friends than clients these days. However, when Kevin told me the news I thought I would post up a couple of images from their wedding from last October. Only to discover I had not yet made a blog post!

Yikes! Their wedding really stands out to me. It was small wedding. Only their closest freinds and family was there. The family was most of the guests! Kids! Oh my there was lots of kids in the wedding. It was so special. Kevin and Shila took a little time from each other from until the wedding as well. The wedding took place on a beutiful Saturday in October under the fall leaves at Russell Cave National Monument.

I met with Melissa and Matt at LaKing's Confectionery on The Strand in Galveston recently. We originally were going to meet up in Houston, but the weather had different plans for us. I personally think it worked out in our favor.

The sunset was amazing, and The Strand is always an awesome place to shoot! While I was down there I ran into a very talented fellow photographer Tomas Ramos. He is a Nikon shooter, but I won't hold that against him.... LOL!

Denise and Craig - Sam Houston Park, Houston, TX

I would like to introduce Denise and Craig. I recently photographed them downtown Houston at Sam Houston Park. It was sooooooo hot out. I thought for sure I would get them to get into the fountains downtown. Maybe next time, but we had a lot of fun.

Denise and Craig were so easy to photograph. They were very comfrotable in front of the camera, and were willing to try anything. Craig even gave me a little sports update as we shot. It is hard to keep track of such things because I have all ladies in my house. I am not complaining. They are all so sweet!

Lauren and Jason's Wedding at Ashton Gardens, Houston

The other day I was hanging out with Jason and Lauren at Starbucks, and I got to thinkin' I never made a post about their wedding! Which is a cryin' shame because their wedding was awesome!

Lauren had her hair done by the fine folks over at Blue Mambo in the art district of Houston. It was a great atmosphere, and stylists rocked.

They were married over at Ashton Gardens on the north side of Houston a while back. It was a wonderful place to get married. It was beautiful and secluded which can be hard to find around Houston. The thing I could not get over was all the windows in the chapel. It made my job easier. There was a lot of soft directional light.

There was so much emotion. There were tears and laughter during the ceremony, and you can see that these two are definitely meant to be.

My Sister Graduates University of Texas at San Antonio with Masters

I thought I would post a little something special and personal today. I have been meaning to get around posting this for a while now. My sister just graduated with a Masters Degree from University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).

She says she an Aggie. Which I do not get, but hey that is an Aggie for you. LOL! That is coming from a guy who is an Aggie too!

I remember being in the 6th grade when she was in kindergarten. Everyday I would wait outside the hallway of her class and we would ride the bus together home. My name was her first word. I remember that night very well. She woke everyone up in the house calling my name. She remembers a whole lot more about our childhood than I do. More of the sort of stuff that my brother and I would do to her.

She has a really awesome son, and is school teacher. She is also the first person in our family to get a Masters Degree. I can't be more proud of her. It is amazing what she is doing. She is brilliant in math. Something I choose to do very little of.

At this special moment of the evening my dad decides to crack one of his really not so funny one liners.

She is my sister. She was dropped on her head.

Awesome Wedding and Memorial Day

It has been a busy crazy weekend. I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph an amazing couple Andrea and Eric. A lot of firsts with this wedding. Including this awesome exit by the two new honeymooners!

On a more serious note it is Memorial Day. Remember those that have sacrificed everything so we may enjoy $4 a gallon gas. I know we complain about the cost of gas. Heck, I do too. I complained to the person at the drive thru tonight for taking to long.... LOL! Well guess what! It is because of all those brave souls that put themselves in harms way so we have the right to complain.

Maybe people in other countries hate us for out constant whining over what they would say is meaningless in the grand design. I say let them hate us then, because our brothers, mothers, sisters, sons, daughters, and grand children made the same sacrifice to provide us with the privilege to do just that.

Today, I say complain away! Because, our brothers have spilled their blood to give us this wonderful gift. If we do not exercise that right, and the many other rights these brave souls fought for, then we as Americans do not honor their memories.

Normally, I try to keep things light here, but I feel strongly about this. Pray for them.

Heather and Dallas - First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Chattanooga, TN

Again working on catching up on blogging I have another wedding for your viewing pleasure. I had a wonderful couple Heather and Dallas that tied the knot a bit back. I would like to share a few photos.

They got married at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Which is one of the most stunning churches in Chattanooga. However, they have pretty strict restrictions concerning photography. Heather and Dallas after enjoying their evening wedding went on to have their reception at the Fairyland Club. It was absolutely stunning. What was more amazing is that they did the decorating themselves. The mother of the bride after working so hard at putting this together found a calling. She realized it was difficult for the busy bride to find wedding professionals, and meeting with them. She created The Cottage Place. Bridal Symposium at Houston's Reliant Center

It has been crazy the last few weeks with weddings and bridal shows. This past weekend I was involved with the Bridal Symposium. I met with a lot of wonderful people over the last few weeks.

If you looking for a place for your wedding you have to see the folks at Butler's Courtyard. Nancy and Janice are wonderful to talk to very knowledgeable and super friendly. Another location you have to go see is Tad Akers. I have met with so many new wonderful people I can not possible mention them all in one post.

Something I have always believed in is having and Event Planing Profesional to help you with all the wedding planning. I can tell you first hand having someone like that for your wedding makes the whole experience that much more enjoyable. You need to talk to Dewayne Ross. He is awesome event planner, and is super creative. Another wedding planner I met with was Danielle Wells with Six Pence Designs. She is new to Houston, and is super easy to work with.

Look for additional resources on my website. It was also a pleasure to meet many of the wonderful photographers as well. There will be another post on that soon.

Wild West Weekend! Houston Bridal Show & Wedding

It has been a crazy weekend! I had a booth at the Houston Bridal Show put on by the fine folks over at the Perfect Wedding Guide. It was wonderful to meet with all of the brides I met with over the weekend, and I can't wait to discuss your wedding more! Plus I had a wedding Saturday night too! Cindy and Paul - Day 3

Sorry about the delay for Day 3 of Cindy and Paul. I had a wedding this weekend. Without further delay the Wedding Day for Cindy and Paul. My day started quite unusual. I started with a trout I had caught Friday night for breakfast. I never ever catch fish when I fish, but Friday night went out fishing on the dock with a bunch of other wedding guests, and Midnight Bob at Cabin Bluff. You see, this was a three pound trout. I am told that is trophy size. I was asked if I wanted to keep it, and I said only if I can eat it, and the fine folks at Cabin Bluff made it happen. WOW!

Friday I got to watch everyone shooting clays, on Saturday my wife and I got to participate. That is so much fun! I had a blast, and I can not wait to get my own shotgun! It is going to be my new hobby! So, if any of you are looking for a birthday gift for me... LOL!

After lunch I was off to photograph the bride getting ready for the wedding that is now just a few hours away. Everything was right there at Cabin Bluff, so it was super easy to make it over to get a few shots of Paul, the groom, get dressed as well.

I had been raining a lot over the long weekend, but for the day of the wedding there was a lot of threating skies, but except for a few showers right at the start of the reception it was smooth sailing. Everything was beautiful. The ceremony had two readings one from Cindy's brother Christian, and another from Paul's father. Both were very warm indeed.

At the reception General Schwarzkopf told us the story of how he heard about Mrs. Schwarzkopf being pregnant. It was very touching. The best man Chance gave what I would have to say one of the best toasts I have heard. It was so thought out and touching.

It was an honor to be part of your big weekend guys! Thank you so much for everything! Here is slideshow #1 and slideshow #2. Seriously, it is really hard to pick images for a blog post for this wedding. There is so much to choose, but hopefully I represented the weekend well. It was really sad to go Sunday morning.

Cindy and Paul - Day Two

Friday morning started with breakfast. I was so tired. Then I was editing away, because at breakfast I had a sideshow to show folks from Thursday.

Cabin Bluff took care of everything. Every meal, bait for fishing, shotguns for shooting, and golf clubs for golfing was all thing you could do there. That isn't all there was so much more too! If there was anything you wanted to do or try they would make it happen. The staff at Cabin Bluff was just as wonderful as wedding guests.

More than anything else Cindy and Paul wanted to make sure my wife and I had fun as well. Friday morning we took a boat ride around Cumberland Island and a little fishing too. As for par, I caught... well nothing... My wife caught a few. However, the highlight of the trip was the boat tour. We got to see a lot of the local wildlife including the wild horses that have lived there for well over 200 years. Ray our boat captain took us ashore for a little (BIG) alligator hunting (sight seeing). The large gator lives in the pond of Plum Orchard, an 1898 Georgian Revival mansion (the picture above) building by Lucy Carnegie for her son, George and his wife, Margaret Thaw.

After lunch I met up with Cindy, her father, brother Christian, Lynn her husband EC, and Kadia for a little clay shooting. My wife, Danielle, decided to enjoy a book she was reading down by the water. It was wet, but very fun. Patrick, our guide was just a blast!

Then everyone met up for a sunset cruise around Cumberland Island before dinner. So, much to do, and everyone made Danielle and I feel welcome. When we came back it was rehearsal time. The ceremony was 24 hours away, and it was time to practice. Everyone but the required personnel went to enjoy the raw oyster bar.

I love it! To get to see two families coming together. This is a great shot of the Karmazyn's with the General. I love to capture that split second moment of peak emotion. It only last a fraction a second. The shot before and after are good, but this one is the best.

Cindy and Paul - Day One

This post has been a long while in the making. A little too long. If you recall a few posts ago mentioning I was behind on my posts due to a hard drive crash that was a significant blow. It caused me to be way way behind.

Anyhow, the next three days are dedicated to one of those couples. It is not often that couple so special invites you to not only document such a special day, but ask you and your wife to be part of it. I am of course speaking of Cindy and Paul.

Cindy is the oldest of three. She has a sister Jessica and brother Christian, and the parents of this clan are Norman and Brenda Schwarzkopf. Yes, Cindy's father is General H. Norman Schwarzkopf, and if you don't know who he is getting to know him will give you a little insight on modern history. Also, why the Middle East is so important to the United States. In my eyes the entire family are heros. They really went through a lot to serve our great country.

Paul and his family not quite as well known, but an amazing story just the same. Paul has a sister Dorota, and she is married to Marc. They have a wonderful daughter Alex. Paul and Dorota are the kidos of Tad and Anna Karmazyn. They are first generation immigrants living the American Dream. They are truly an inspiration.

The wedding took place at Cabin Bluff just north of the Florida border. Truly amazing place these images are from the first night of a a long weekend. Here is the slideshow from that night.

The Hope Anthem by Marc Scibilia

A very good friend of mine Julian Smith and a extremely talented film maker made a music video of The Hope Anthem by Marc Scibilia. Marc is a supporter of Ron Paul for President. Which if you not read up on your candidates you should take a little time to do that, and check out Ron Paul's message as well. Marc is an amazing song writer, and you can check out his album at his website.

That is right the music on my site is his as well. What else does Julian have going on? He is shooting a benefit concert for only one of the biggest stars in music ... ever... Mardi Gras - Galveston, Texas

Even in the wedding off season I stay just about swamped, however I made it a point to make it out with the family to go take part of some Mardi Gras fun today in Galveston, Texas. The girls had an amazing time. They cleaned house on beads! I wish I could get a away from this machine more often, but work is well... a labor of love... so I really don't mind. However, getting to spend this kind of time with my wife and daughters makes my hear skip a beat!

I really like to get out and photograph different things. Photographing parades is something every newspaper photog working on a daily must do. I have also had my share of parades when I was pounding pavement full-time as well, but it has been a while since my last one. I had a lot of fun with this little self assignment. I hope you enjoy!

Started off with a pet parade. It was fun to see the owners and pets dressed up as pirates.

The green dog. Anyone, knows the breed of this one let me know. Something I like to do to give my photos a little extra depth and meaning is to include foreground supporting elements in the photo. What would have been a photo of a green dog, while interesting, tells a story when I used the local newspaper photographer in the foreground.

No parade is complete with out the Shriners.

Peak action. I love it! The moment in time when you pause a dramatic moment forever. I just love the beads in mid-air on these four takes takes. I thought getting the beads in the air would spice up a few photos.

Characters abound in the parade.

After the parade we made our way down the Strand where several establishments had folks tossing beads off second story balconies.

Of course there was the people to catch.

And toss...

Galveston Bay Shrimp Boat & Copyright Concerns

I wanted to share this image I took recently in the Galveston Bay. It is of a shrimp boat with seagulls looking for a meal. I try to get out when I can to photograph things of a different nature from time to time, so I thought I would share.

On a more serious note. I love to see when my clients use the work I created for them on their own, websites, blogs, and networking websites such as MySpace. It really is the ultimate form of complimenting what I do. However, I have noticed a few folks cropping out my logo, and or not giving me a little love for those really ultra cool and hip pics.. (hopefully they are ultra cool... LOL!). There is a lot of you that have also purchased the hi-resolution images on disk as well. The paper work included with that ask that credit be given to me if images are used on a personal website.

I ask if you are using images in one of these situations that you please give me credit on your site. It helps other folks find me, and it really helps with my business. By doing so is like saying thank you. I allow such use as a thank you for being a customer. Every image I create is protected by copyright laws. It is because of these laws that a profession such of mine can exist, and I would love to be able to continue to provide my services for years to come. So, if you can take the time to mention my website on your site I would appreciate it.

Claudia and Oscar - St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Dalton, GA

Claudia and Oscar was my first Hispanic Catholic wedding. I had such a blast! The wedding was at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Dalton, GA. The church was stunning with huge windows that made for excellent lighting for an indoor wedding. I would have to say by far it was the church with the best natural lighting I have been in.

At the wedding they had a mariachi band, and with the decor inside the church it was an amazing experience. There was a lot of firsts at this wedding. It was one of the longest days I have had in a long time. However, it was worth it.

During the reception they guys took the groom and tossed him in the air! There are several other traditional things that happened that I would be hard pressed to explain. The photos were wonderful, and of course having wonderful subjects really help!

A Step Back is a Step Forward

In previous posts I had spoke about picking up where I had to leave off due to technical difficulties. So, here it is first wedding photos post since all of that. I would like to introduce to you Heather and Johnathan. These two love birds tied the not on the beach in wonderful St. Augustine, Florida.

If you have never been to St. Augustine you have to go. It is the oldest city in North America. It is a stunning place. Bring your walking shoes!
